ALL GOOD THINGS
***long random post alert, since this post is the result of writings from several occasions published together***
I'm ecstatic. Why? Because my computer is up and running again. Last night the power of my PC went off. And then the smell of smoke... You can't say I wasn't worried that all my stuff in my hard drive would be gone.
I'm so grateful that my computer seems to work fine again after I changed the power supply box. As my friend says someone with normal IQ should be able to fix it, including computer illiterates like me. I'm not sure if I messed up with anything, but at least the computer is up and running after my messing with the wires, and I'm totally ectastic right now just to see my pictures again, and the familiar desk top, my songs, the blog I'm typing right now...
:)
Usually a hiatus in the blog world means I'm too busy in the real world. And just in case you were wondering, I'd been preoccupied by my clinical assessments lately. I flunked soe of those, but I'm just glad they're over. Although some bigger exams are still ahead of me. Somehow by random I was being asked to examine on patients like - a several day old baby with interruption of aorta, or 2 year ol kid with myasthenia gravis so severe that she can't even breathe on her own, or a poor baby withdon's who's in intensive care because of bronciolitis.
Now I realize I have no right to complain about anything, at all.
After my exam yesterday, I celebrated by - 1) watching a play that I can proudly say the 'framework' of story is understood while only about 10% of dialogue are comprehensible by me. 2) and digging up a lot of music news. So here you go.
The Corrs
First I start off with my favorite band The Corrs. A year after they released their final studio album 'Home' under their record label Atlantic, they're now releasing their 2nd compilation album called 'Dreams - the Ultimate Corrs Collection'. I don't know how this might sound to you, but it definitely sounds like a desparate attempt by their record company to cash in one last time from this band. I can't say I'm super excited about this release, as there is only 1 new song on it I haven't heard before called All I Have To Do Is Dream (a duet with a French singer), plus remixes of 'Stars Go Blue' and 'Goodbye'. But something new from them is still better than nothing. So i'm marking 20 November on my calendar for sure to grab this new release.
And you should too.
Listen to clips of all 20 tracks at their website.
The Killers
This is their new video Bones. Amazing video, directed by Tim Burton. Perfect match for this song, and it's a rather funny/quirky video. I love the vibe of this song. So make sure you check out the video. And I totally predicted one part right. I'll let you know what that is, but you'll have to see it first.
The Killers - Bones
(Right at the beach scene I exclaimed 'I want to see the 2 skeletons collide' and then 2 seconds later they did, and that was a triumhant moment for me.)
Nelly Furtado
Her video for her 3rd single in the UK is out. I'm so glad she chooses 'All Good Things' as her 3rd single, because it's just one beautiful song. The video is very nicely done too. It suits the song, it's quite poetic and a bit sad, just like the song itself. Watch it, you'll love this song.
Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come To An End)
Take That
I'm sure it's not news to you Take That has reformed. They're about to release a brand new album, and the leading single is 'Patience' - a ballad that sounds very much like Mark Owen's solo stuff (which is good), while you may argue that this sounds an awful lot like James Blunt or Embrace. I won't argue with you there, but as long as I know it's written by Mark instead of some James Blunt reject then I'll approve this. And now you have the video.
Take That - Patience
Apparently this is their CD cover.
Boo. How boring. It's not even a very nice logo to start with.
Meanwhile, this is out, and it's quite brilliant: It's a great pop album, a lot better than his last album, with songs like 'Bongo Bong/Je Ne T'Aime Plus', 'The 90s', 'The 80s', 'The Actor' and 'Kiss Me' you simply can't miss. I actually won't stop you from buying it, because it is really quite good.
Robbie - Lovelight
Girls Aloud
Their greatest hits album is coming out this November, and there's a rather nice megamix to promote this release, and remind you that Girls Aloud released some really great songs like Sound of the Underground, No Good Advice, The Show and Jump etc etc. You have to check this out.
Girls Aloud - Megamix
And their hideous artwork for their album. I really can't further comment on this. Urgh!
What's worse, the same cover is being used for their 'chemistry tour' dvd release. What a disaster I say. But then, I have to say I'm really interested in watching that tour and I 'might' get this on DVD. I'll see.
Speaking of DVDs, here are some other future releases I 'might' or 'might not' get:
This is basically a collection of Robbie's live videos filmed at various concerts spanning from 1998 to 2005. This might be very very good.
Sugababes This is Sugababes' collection of videos. I might actually get it - Sugababes is my all time favorite girl group. But problem with it is - according to amazon's tracklist, some videos are missing. That's a really stupid idea - when you release a video collection, just put in all the videos chronologically.
Who would've thought Mel C could release a live DVD of her own? But she shows to the world that she can. Although we don't really know how many copies of it will be issued, and I highly doubt I'll see it in HK any time soon. But I'm quite interested in watching this. Afterall she's got some really good songs and her live show could be a rather brilliant affair.
Needless to say, this is Take That's first tour after they reformed. I'm not sure if it's going to be any good, but Take That's songs are epic, and apparently this also contains clips from 'Mark's stage tour', which makes this even more interesting.
Oh, I'm so going broke. Maybe I won't get any of the above afterall.
